Chhath Pooja is one of the prominent Hindu festivals and celebrated all across the country. On this day, Lord Surya is worshipped by the devotee. Without worshipping Lord Sun, there is no value of Chhath pooja and it would not be considered accomplished.

 

The word Chhath associate to Chhathi Maiya who is the consort of Lord Surya. Apart from it, Chhath symbolized the number SIX as this festival goes to four days constantly. As per mythology, it is believed that Karna started this pooja as he was the sun of Lord Surya.

 

How Many Times It Is celebrated

 

  • Chhath is celebrated in summers and winters twice in a year.
  • The first Chhath Puja is celebrated on the sixth day of the Chaitra month after accomplishing the festival of Holi.
  • In winters, Chhath Puja is celebrated on the sixth day of Kartika month. It is also known as the Kartiki Chhath and considered the prominent Chhath Puja.

 

This festival is dedicated to Lord Surya and devotee having great firm in Lord Surya always celebrate it with great enthusiasm. Saying would not be wrong that is one of the most difficult Surya Puja as it goes up to 4 days and strict fast rule and regulation re followed by all the devotees. They have to take fast without taking water for up to 2 days.
