Kartik Purnima Vrat

As per the Hindu calendar, the Kartik purnima is the 8th purnima lunar (Tithi) month. On this auspicious day, the moon (chandrama) sees full in the sky. It’s considered the auspicious month among all lunar (Tithi) months.

 

Many people wake up early in the morning and take a dip in the holy river Ganga Maa. It is believed that those person on this day take the bath in the hoy river ganga maa to reduce all paps (guilts) and apradh (bad karma). Taking a dip in Holy River is considered very auspicious.

 

A number of Kirtan, Bhajan, satsang, Katha, and other ritual programmes are organized on this day. Pushkar fair is held on this day in the memory of Lord Brahma. Lord Vishnu and Goddess Tulsi are worshipping in the evening.

 

People who keep fast on this day japing mantra, bhajan and Kirtan on this day. Taking a dip on this auspicious day is considered as same as taking a bath in the Holy River Ganga 1000 times. On this day, many people take fast while some people invite Brahmin in order to offer Dakshin.

 

Offering Dakshin to Brahmin helps to bring good fortune to the devotees’ life. People also visit Mandir to get blessed by God and goddess on this day.
